South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard has returned from a joint Yorkshire trade mission to India which secured new agreements covering health innovation and textiles.
West Yorkshire Combined Authority said Mr Coppard joined West Yorkshire Mayor Tracy Brabin and York and North Yorkshire Mayor David Skaith on the delegation to Hyderabad and Mumbai, alongside businesses, universities and cultural organisations.
The mission included a new partnership between Health Innovation Yorkshire & Humber and IKP Knowledge Park in Hyderabad's Genome Valley. Yorkshire universities, including institutions from Sheffield, were also represented during the visit.
The authority said exports from West, South and York and North Yorkshire to India more than doubled between 2021 and 2023 to around £770m a year. Mr Coppard said closer links between South Yorkshire and Telangana could create new opportunities for trade, investment and jobs.
