Major work on Castle Street in Sheffield city centre begins during the week starting Monday 12 October, as Sheffield Council starts the latest stage of its Connecting Sheffield programme.
The work covers Castle Street, Waingate and Haymarket.
Improvements include upgraded bus stops, wider walking routes, safer crossings, a new two-way cycle route and improved connections through the area.
During the first phase, Waingate will be closed to uphill traffic, and some bus stops will temporarily move.
That first stage is expected to continue until early November.
The overall Castle Street project is scheduled for completion in spring 2027.
