South Yorkshire Mayor Oliver Coppard has launched a youth talent fund in South Yorkshire, aiming to help financially support talented young people who may struggle to access opportunities due to the cost of training, equipment, course fees, and travel.
The South Yorkshire Mayor's Youth Impact Fund will provide grants of up to £10,000 for individuals aged 11 to 19 aged between 11 and 19 to cover the costs of specialist training, material, equipment and course fees. The fund was inspired by a childhood friend who never realised his ambition to become a professional athlete due to financial constraints.
Coppard hopes the fund will help open doors, create opportunities and ensure that talent isn't held back by financial circumstances.
