A parent who failed to ensure their child attended school has been handed a bill of more than £1,400, Barnsley Council has confirmed in its latest court round-up.

The case is one of a number of education and enviro-crime prosecutions the council has taken to court, with offenders ordered to pay costs and fines.

Barnsley Council says it will continue to take action where parents do not make sure their children attend school regularly, and where waste offences are committed.

The council has not yet published the full details of every case in this round-up, and we will update this story as more information becomes available.
