Joshua Kerry, 28, from Rotherham, has appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court charged with preparing acts of terrorism, including alleged activity targeting Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.
Prosecutors allege Kerry carried out online reconnaissance on prominent people and institutions and identified Mr Farage's home address. He is accused of travelling to the property and trying to gain entry on 19 April 2025.
The following day, damage was discovered to the door frame and a bottle of lighter fluid was found on the porch.
Kerry is separately charged with the murder of former minister Ann Widdecombe. He has not entered pleas to the terrorism allegation and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey on Friday.
Proceedings are active and none of the allegations have been proven.
