A Sheffield man has been handed a 20-year extended sentence after admitting attempting to rape a woman in her 70s in Concord Park.
Ali Askre, 25, attacked the woman as she walked through the park in March.
The victim fought him off despite suffering serious injuries and was able to give police crucial information which helped officers identify him.
Askre was arrested within four hours.
He pleaded guilty to attempted rape and causing grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has now been sentenced to 12 years in custody, followed by an extended licence period of 8 years, making a total extended sentence of 20 years.
Police have praised the victim's immense courage throughout the investigation and court case.
