Sheffield City Council is hosting a session called Universal Credit Childcare Support: What Partners need to know to support parents. It runs on Thursday 26 November 2026, from 12.00pm to 12.30pm.
The session is aimed at partners and practitioners who work with families. According to the council, it will cover the role of Universal Credit childcare support in helping parents enter, sustain and progress in employment.
Those taking part will look at who may be eligible for childcare support, including groups such as lone parents and second earners. The session will also explain the two types of support available: ongoing childcare cost reimbursement and help with upfront childcare costs.
The council says attendees will learn how to communicate key messages clearly and accurately to parents, including levels of support and how payments are made through Universal Credit. It will also cover the importance of early engagement with Jobcentre Plus so claims and support can be accessed in good time.
The session will help practitioners spot opportunities to refer and signpost parents who could benefit from Universal Credit childcare support in their day-to-day roles. Places can be reserved through the council's sign-up form, and a cancellation option is available for those who have already booked.
