Three major Sheffield venues have renewed agreements to receive heat from E.ON's Blackburn Meadows district-heating network.
Ice Sheffield, the English Institute of Sport Sheffield and Utilita Arena Sheffield collectively use around 4,400 megawatt-hours of heat each year.
That is roughly equivalent to the annual heating needs of more than 460 typical UK homes.
The multi-year agreements will continue supplying locally generated lower-carbon heat to the venues as part of their efforts to control energy costs and reduce environmental impact.
