Sheffield Wednesday condemn racist abuse aimed at player's family

Sheffield Wednesday have condemned racist abuse directed at the family of one of their players on social media following Tuesday night's fixture.

The club said the player and his family have its full support and described racism as having no place in football or society.

Wednesday said the comments have been reported to the relevant authorities and that the club will work with them to identify those responsible.

The club added that this was not the first incident this season involving players, staff or their families and said it would take the strongest possible action against anyone responsible for discriminatory abuse.
