South Yorkshire Police has said six of its officers were assaulted while responding to three separate incidents over the weekend.
Reported injuries included scratches and abrasions, concussion and suspected ligament damage.
Two officers were assaulted while attending a domestic incident, while another officer was kicked in the side of the head during a separate family dispute.
During a third incident involving a man in mental health crisis near railway tracks, three ambulance workers were also assaulted. One police officer suffered suspected ligament damage to their ankle and concussion during that incident.
Police say two people have been charged with assaulting a police constable, while investigations into the incidents continue.
The force says physical and verbal abuse should never be accepted as simply "part of the job".
