South Yorkshire Police have shared how to use their new live chat assistant, Bobbi, which was launched across the force on 1 October.
Since then, the force says Bobbi has dealt with hundreds of questions from members of the public, providing a speedy alternative to calling 101 for general enquiries and advice, with answers given in seconds.
The force says Bobbi has not replaced its control room staff, and a dedicated team responds to live chat enquiries that Bobbi can't answer itself. For more complicated enquiries, Bobbi will connect you with one of their human Police Contact Operators.
South Yorkshire Police say any data shared during a chat will remain confidential and will not be used outside of the force.
To report a non-emergency incident, you should continue to report online or by calling 101. For emergencies, always call 999.
