Barnsley Author Milly Johnson Celebrates New Book Release and Looks Ahead to Special 20th Anniversary
Bestselling Barnsley author Milly Johnson has plenty to celebrate as her latest Christmas novel arrives in paperback, with a busy programme of book signings and a very special anniversary on the horizon.
Milly's festive novel, Let the Bells Ring Out, is now available in paperback following its hardback release last year.
The story follows seven people who find themselves trapped aboard a luxury train at Christmas, bringing together festive warmth, unexpected friendships and some thought-provoking reflections on life and coincidence.
Milly says she is particularly proud of the book, which she wrote with her mum very much in mind.
The paperback is available from major supermarkets, Waterstones and independent bookshops, giving readers the perfect opportunity to pick up a little festive reading in the run-up to Christmas.
Milly has thanked everyone who supported her recent publication-day event at The Book Vault in Barnsley, where readers turned out to meet the author and celebrate the release.
For anyone who missed the occasion, The Book Vault can still arrange signed copies of Let the Bells Ring Out, complete with a diary, pen and bookmark.
Readers can contact the shop on 01226 281945 for further information.
The author has also been busy attending literary festivals and book events across the country, including appearances in Huddersfield and Lichfield.
There is even more excitement to come in January 2027, when Milly releases her next novel, The Birthday Girls.
The new book will coincide with a particularly special milestone — 20 years since the publication of her first novel.
Plans are being made for a celebratory launch event at Barnsley's Parkway Cinema on Thursday 28 January 2027, with a buffet, giveaways, a raffle and other surprises.
The event is still being planned, with ticket details expected to be announced nearer the time.
Special editions of The Birthday Girls, including sprayed-edge hardbacks, are also expected to be available through The Book Vault.
The novel is available to pre-order, with a paperback edition planned for later in 2027.
Fans will have several opportunities to meet the author over the coming weeks.
Milly is scheduled to appear at Waterstones in Doncaster on Thursday 3 December, between 5.30pm and 7.30pm, as part of the town's late-night shopping celebrations.
She will then return to Barnsley on Saturday 5 December, signing books at Mike's Famous Bookstall in Barnsley Market between 10am and noon.
Looking further ahead, Milly is also due to appear at a special afternoon tea event at Wortley Hall on Thursday 11 March 2027, celebrating International Women's Day.
Two other Barnsley events, the Shaw Lane Christmas Cracker and a Priory Campus appearance, have already sold out.
With a new Christmas paperback on the shelves, another novel on the way and a milestone anniversary to celebrate, it promises to be an exciting few months for Milly and her readers.
And despite her busy schedule, she continues to make time for the local bookshops, events and supporters who have followed her writing career over the years.
