Barnsley will come together this November to honour those who have served in the Armed Forces through a remembrance initiative called The Roses Remember, the council says.
At the heart of the tribute are Yorkshire Rose sculptures, lit red to represent poppies. The names of Barnsley's fallen will be softly whispered through the illuminated roses, the council says, creating a poignant tribute to those from the town who gave their lives in service to their country.
The first showing of The Roses Remember will take place on Saturday 7 November at 6.30pm. From Sunday 8 November to Saturday 14 November, the installation can be experienced at 8.30am (audio only), 4.30pm and 6.30pm.
It is part of a wider programme of remembrance events across Barnsley in November, when communities come together to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives in war.
