International Control Room Week runs from 26 October to 1 November, and recognises the work carried out by control room staff every day to keep the public safe.
In South Yorkshire, the force control room serves a population of 1.4 million spread over 600 square miles. Call handlers respond to thousands of calls each day, and dispatchers make sure the right resources are deployed to incidents that require a police presence.
Force Crime Bureau staff record and allocate crimes, carry out desktop investigations, and complete quality assurance on all calls.
South Yorkshire Police said: "Our staff don't know what emergencies they will respond to each day, but they act with calm professionalism to ensure that those who need our help get it."
Across the week the force will look at what it takes to work in the force control room, how it has changed over the years, and the work taking place to improve the service for the years to come.
