This week South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue ran a large-scale live play exercise to test its response to a major building fire, with multiple casualties.
A 10 fire engine attendance brought together wholetime and on-call crews, with support from colleagues at Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service and Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.
The service was joined by the Ambulance Service, South Yorkshire Police, the council and paramedic students from Sheffield Hallam University, all working side by side to manage the incident as they would in real life.
A big thank you went to volunteers from the Casualties Union, whose professionalism and commitment made the scenario realistic and immersive. The service said it made a real difference to the learning for everyone involved.
South Yorkshire Fire & Rescue also thanked everyone who helped plan, support and deliver the exercise, adding that opportunities like this strengthen how they work together, so that if the call comes, they're ready.
